12-month firstjob internships available

We are excited to announce that we have new 12-month internship opportunities available for:

1 x Catering Assistant intern

1 x Digital Marketing intern

1 x Administrative Assistant intern

1 x Data Capture intern

2 x Agriculture Assistant interns

The start date of these internships is 1 July 2024 and end date is 30 June 2025. These internships are part of the FirstJobs Programme, sponsored by FirstRand. This will be Siyazisiza’s fourth cohort of FirstJob interns, and it is a responsibility that our team takes seriously. It is also an honour to watch these young people learn and grow over the course of the year!

Please note that these opportunities are open to candidates that:

  1. Have a minimum qualification of matric.
  2. Must be a South African citizen.
  3. Are between 18 and 34 years of age.
  4. Have never held a full-time position before and preferably have not participated on a learnership or internship before.
  5. Live within 50 kms from our office, which is situated at the Zululand Agri Support Centre, corner of R102 & P240, Obanjeni, Mtunzini, KwaZulu-Natal.
  6. Are not currently in full time studies and able to attend this internship full time.
  7. Are willing to be subjected to a credit and criminal check or any industry specific checks required for your job role.
  8. Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups and people with disabilities in accordance with the organisation employment equity plan.

Particular REQUIREMENTS per position

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT INTERN – Minimum Requirements:

  • Office administrative qualification or equivalent qualification. 
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in tasks. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. 
  • Basic understanding of office procedures and administrative tasks. 
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Understanding of both the legal and ethical responsibility when handling confidential and/or sensitive documents or information.

 

CATERING ASSISTANT INTERN – Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification related to catering, food safety, etc. preferred.
  • Ability to cook, with preparation skills for various types of cookery.
  • Ability to carry out catering planning and organising of a day-to-day menu.
  • Knowledge of application of food health and safety requirements. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. 
  • Must be able to work under pressure and long hours, including being prepared to work on weekends.

DIGITAL MARKETING ASSISTANT INTERN – Minimum Requirements:

  • Marketing, journalism or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent writing skills in English and Zulu.
  • Understanding of social media and website content management.
  • Photography and videography skills (including editing) preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in tasks. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. 

DATA CAPTURE INTERN – Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline (Honours degree will be an added advantage).
  • Some experience in data collection and data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using data collection tools and software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or database management systems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and learn new tools and technologies quickly.

AGRICULTURE ASSISTANT INTERN – Minimum Requirements:

  • Agriculture or other relevant qualification preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture preferred.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
